Rybelsus 14mg Tablet is used for:

• Type 2 diabetes mellitus: It helps improve blood glucose control in adults when used along with diet and exercise.

• Blood sugar control when other diabetes medicines are unsuitable or insufficient: It may be used alone when metformin is considered inappropriate or together with other medicines used to treat diabetes.

Rybelsus 14mg Tablet is not indicated for the treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Rybelsus 14mg Tablet contains Semaglutide, which acts like GLP-1, a natural hormone involved in blood sugar regulation.

It helps the pancreas release insulin when blood glucose levels are high and reduces the release of glucagon, a hormone that raises blood glucose. Semaglutide also slows the movement of food through the stomach, which can help reduce food intake and increase feelings of fullness. Together, these effects help improve blood sugar control in people with type 2 diabetes.

Tell your doctor about all prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, supplements and herbal products you take.

• Insulin and sulfonylureas: Using Rybelsus with insulin or sulfonylureas can increase the risk of low blood sugar. Your doctor may reduce the dose of these medicines when starting or increasing Semaglutide.

• Other oral medicines: Rybelsus slows stomach emptying and can affect the absorption of medicines taken by mouth. Follow the required 30-minute interval before taking other oral medicines.

• Levothyroxine: Semaglutide may increase exposure to levothyroxine. Your doctor may monitor thyroid-related parameters if both medicines are used together.

• Warfarin and other coumarin medicines: Changes in INR have been reported with some coumarin medicines. More frequent INR monitoring may be needed when Semaglutide is started in people taking warfarin or similar medicines.

• Other Semaglutide-containing medicines or GLP-1 receptor agonists: Do not use Rybelsus together with another Semaglutide-containing medicine or another GLP-1 receptor agonist unless specifically prescribed by your doctor.

• Store Rybelsus 14mg Tablet in its original blister packaging to protect it from light and moisture.

• Store below 30°C.

• Keep the tablets in a dry place and protect them from moisture.

• Keep Rybelsus 14mg Tablet out of the sight and reach of children.

• Do not use the tablets after the expiry date printed on the packaging.

Take Rybelsus 14mg Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

Rybelsus should be taken once daily on an empty stomach after an overnight fasting period of at least 8 hours. Swallow the tablet whole with a small amount of plain water, up to half a glass (120 mL). Do not split, crush or chew the tablet.

After taking Rybelsus, wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking or taking any other oral medicine. Taking food, other drinks or oral medicines sooner can reduce the absorption of Semaglutide.

The 14mg strength is generally reached after treatment with a lower strength. Do not start Rybelsus at 14mg or change your dose unless your doctor has prescribed it.

If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose on the following day as usual. Do not take two tablets to make up for a missed dose.

Common side effects of Rybelsus 14mg Tablet may include:

• Nausea

• Diarrhoea

• Vomiting

• Abdominal pain

• Constipation

• Decreased appetite

• Indigestion

• Headache

• Dizziness

Nausea, diarrhoea and vomiting are particularly common when Semaglutide treatment is started or the dose is increased. These effects are often mild to moderate and may become less troublesome as treatment continues.

Serious side effects

Seek medical attention if you develop:

• Severe or persistent abdominal pain, particularly if it spreads to the back, which may be a sign of pancreatitis.

• Severe allergic reactions such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat or difficulty breathing.

• Persistent vomiting or diarrhoea that may cause dehydration and affect kidney function.

• Severe or persistent abdominal pain, fever or yellowing of the skin or eyes, which may indicate gallbladder disease.

• New or worsening vision changes, particularly if you have diabetic retinopathy.

• Sudden loss of vision, which requires urgent medical assessment.

• Symptoms of low blood sugar, particularly when Rybelsus is used with insulin or a sulfonylurea.

• Take Rybelsus 14mg Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

• Do not start treatment with the 14mg strength unless your doctor specifically prescribes it after dose escalation.

• Take the tablet on an empty stomach with only a small amount of plain water.

• Wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking or taking other oral medicines.

• Swallow the tablet whole. Do not crush, chew or split it.

• Do not take two tablets in one day to make up for a missed dose.

• Tell your doctor if you have a history of pancreatitis, diabetic retinopathy or severe stomach problems.

• Drink enough fluids, particularly if you develop vomiting or diarrhoea.

• Tell your healthcare team that you take Rybelsus before surgery or a procedure involving general anaesthesia or deep sedation.

• If you use insulin or a sulfonylurea, follow your doctor's advice about blood glucose monitoring and dose adjustments.

• Do not change the dose or stop Rybelsus without speaking to your doctor.
