Introduction to Augmentin Es Syrup

Augmentin ES syrup is a combination of Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid, which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to treat certain bacterial infections such as middle ear and sinus infections, sinus and middle ear infections, respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections (UTI), skin and soft tissue infections, including dental infections, and bone and joint infections. Consult your doctor if you need clarification before starting the medicine. Notify your doctor if you are planning to have a blood test related to RBC status, liver function test, or urine test because this medicine can affect the result of these tests.

Do not take Augmentin ES if you have or have had a history of hypersensitivity (swelling in the face or throat and skin rashes), liver conditions, or jaundice.  Do not consume this syrup if you are allergic to Amoxicillin, Clavulanic acid, Penicillins, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Doctor for advice about getting pregnant and breastfeeding. Notify your doctor if you have any kidney problems because the dose might be changed.

Therapeutic Effects of Augmentin Es Syrup

Augmentin ES combines two medicines (Amoxycillin and Clavulanic Acid). Amoxycillin (antibiotic) is a penicillin that helps treat bacterial infection by preventing the formation of the structural component of bacteria, which is essential for the survival of bacteria. Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that works by reducing the activity of enzymes and preventing the inactivation of Amoxycillin against bacteria.


Interaction of Augmentin Es Syrup with other drugs

Inform your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, nutritional and vitamin supplements, and herbal products. Certain medications such as Allopurinol, Probenecid, Warfarin, Methotrexate, and Mycophenolate mofetil may interact with Augmentin ES and reduce effectiveness by causing undesirable side effects.
