Introduction to Augplat 500mg Injection

Augplat 500mg injection belongs to the platelet-stimulating agent category, containing the active ingredient Romiplostim. It treats immune primary thrombocytopenia (ITP). ITP occurs when the body's immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys its own platelets, leading to low platelet counts. This drug is mostly used in adults and children aged 18 years and over with immune primary thrombocytopenia when other treatments have not been effective. It is prescribed when immunoglobulins, corticosteroids, or splenectomy (surgical spleen removal) have not successfully increased platelet counts.

This drug is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to other medicines that are produced by DNA technology using the micro-organism Escherichia coli (E. coli). Before receiving this injection, it is important to inform your physician about certain conditions such as liver problems, cancer, recent surgery, smoking habits, and if you are taking birth control pills. These factors may impact the safety and effectiveness of the medication, and your physician needs to be aware of them to determine if the Augplat 500mg injection is suitable for you or if any adjustments need to be made to your treatment plan.

When you are on treatment with this drug, your physician will monitor your blood tests regularly to assess for any abnormalities that may indicate bone marrow changes. If abnormalities are detected, your doctor will evaluate their significance and determine the appropriate course of action because this drug has been associated with major changes in the bone marrow. Depending on the findings, your doctor may decide to continue or discontinue the treatment. Augplat 500mg injection is not recommended for pregnant patients unless specifically indicated by your doctor. Inform your physician if you are pregnant, suspecting, or planning for the pregnancy before initiating the treatment. It is not known whether this drug is present in human milk. Therefore breastfeeding should be avoided.
