Bernitrim injection contains an active component such as Cotrimoxazole. It is a medication that combines two active ingredients as trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole. This medication is commonly used to treat uncomplicated UTIs caused by susceptible bacteria. It can be prescribed for certain types of respiratory tract infections, such as bronchitis and certain types of pneumonia. This medication might be used to treat gastrointestinal infections caused by susceptible bacteria. It can be effective in treating certain bacterial skin infections and wounds. It might be prescribed to prevent or treat traveler's diarrhea in certain situations. It is also used as a preventive measure against PCP, a type of pneumonia affecting individuals with weakened immune systems, such as HIV/AIDS.
