Introduction to Dapefy M 5mg/1000mg Tablet

Dapefy M 5mg/1000mg tablet contains the active ingredient Dapagliflozin + Metformin. It is an anti-diabetic drug. Dapagliflozin belongs to the group of medications called sodium-glucose co-transporter. Metformin belongs to the class of medications called biguanides. It is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients aged 18 years and older. This combination of medicines is taken by mouth (orally). 

Dapefy M 5mg/1000mg tablet is always taken in combination with diet and exercise. Your doctor may prescribe this medicine with other anti-diabetic medications when your blood sugar is high and uncontrolled. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to Dapagliflozin, Metformin, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Do not take this tablet if you have ever had a diabetic coma, severely reduced kidney function, severe infection, or liver problems. Inform your doctor immediately if you have vomiting, stomach ache, muscle cramps, severe tiredness, difficulty in breathing, reduced body temperature, and heartbeat after taking this medicine.  

Inform your physician if you get urinary tract infections because this medicine may cause UTI. This medicine is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age. Your doctor will check for kidney function at least once every year or more frequently while you are taking this medicine. The common side effects of this medicine are diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, urinary tract infections, and headache.

Therapeutic Effects of Dapefy M 5mg/1000mg Tablet

Dapagliflozin reduces glucose reabsorption and lowers the renal threshold for glucose. It works by removing excess sugar from your body via your urine and lowering the sugar in your blood. Metformin primarily decreases hepatic glucose production and decreases intestinal absorption of glucose. It works mainly by inhibiting glucose production in the liver.

Inform your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, nutritional and vitamin supplements, and herbal products. Certain medications interact with Dapefy M 5mg/1000mg tablet and reduce its effectiveness by causing undesirable side effects.
