Introduction to Herclon 440mg Injection
Herclon 440mg Injection consists of Trastuzumab as an active constituent which is indicated for its use in HER 2 breast cancer. In HER 2 positive patients, the breast cancer cells are mostly composed of HER2 proteins that cause rapid development of cancer tumors by serving as a signal to the cancerous. This medication is also used to treat metastatic gastric cancer with increased levels of HER2 proteins.
Her 2 positive breast cancers are most aggressive in nature. The targeted therapy for her 2 positive breast cancer works by selectively targeting the proteins that are responsible for the growth, development, and spread of cancer. Use effective birth control during the treatment and for at least 7 months after the final dose.
Herclon 440mg Injection is not recommended for patients aged under 18 and patients who have severe breathing problems or need oxygen treatment. It is necessary to let your physician know if you have any heart problems, breathlessness, or have ever had any other cancer treatment. Make sure you inform your physician of all the medicines, including supplements and herbal medicines, you are taking before you start treatment with this medication.
Uses of Herclon 440mg Injection
Herclon 440mg Injection is indicated for its use in the following conditions:
- Advanced and metastatic breast cancer
- Metastatic gastric cancer
Therapeutic Effects of Herclon 440mg Injection
The protein called HER2 (human epidermal growth factor receptor 2) is found in abundant amounts on the surface of certain cancer cells, where it stimulates cancer growth. Trastuzumab in Herclon 440mg Injection selectively binds to HER2 and stops the growth of cancer cells.
Interaction of Herclon 440mg Injection with other drugs
Inform your doctor about any prescribed medications, over-the-counter medicines, nutritional and vitamin supplements, and herbal products you take or have taken before the treatment. Certain medications may interact with Herclon 440mg Injection and cause undesirable side effects.

- Store between 2˚C and 8˚C.
How to consume Herclon 440mg Injection
- Herclon 440mg Injection shall either be administered before or after surgery.
- It will be given as an Intravenous infusion for 90 minutes, if well tolerated it shall be administered within 30 minutes for the next doses.

Pregnancy
Discuss with your physician before taking this Herclon 440mg Injection if you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant. Do not take this medicine during the pregnancy unless advised by the doctor to take as it may cause to the unborn baby.
Breast Feeding
Avoid breastfeeding your baby while on the treatment with Herclon 440mg Injection atleast for at least seven months after the final dose.
Lungs
Talk to your doctor if you have any lung conditions before starting treatment with Herclon 440mg Injection.
Liver
You need to tell your physician if you have any liver disorders before starting Herclon 440mg Injection as it requires dosage adjustment for severe liver impairment.
Alcohol
Consult your doctor to know if it is safe to consume alcohol while you are on treatment with Herclon 440mg Injection.
Driving
Herclon 440mg Injection can cause unusual tiredness and dizziness. Hence, it is advised to avoid driving or handling machinery during the treatment.

Herclon 440mg Injection is generally given along with the chemotherapy medication such as paclitaxel or docetaxel or platinum compunds. Sometimes, it is also given with hormonal agents for those patients with elevated hormonal status.

Yes, Herclon 440mg Injection can damage the heart muscles. Hence to prevent the worsening of symptoms, it is advised to do heart check up every 3 months and continue till 2-5 years after the treatment completion.

No, it is unsafe to consume Herclon 440mg Injection while you are pregnant or this medicine can cause harm to the baby by reducing the amount of amniotic fluid,the fluid surrounding the womb. If you are planning for pregnancy, it is advised to discuss the birth control methods as this medicine may impair your fertility.
