Introduction to Menactra Vaccine
Menactra Vaccine contains an active component called Meningo-coccal Polysaccharide Diphtheria Toxoid Conjugate. This vaccine is an active immunizing agent used to prevent meningococcal disease caused by neisseria meningitidis groups A, C, Y, W – 135, but it is not effective against N meningitidis serogroup B. It is contraindicated for persons who are diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS); it may increase the risk of GBS. Consult your doctor if you are allergic to the drug and its other ingredients.Â
The drug is not effective in people with low immune response or certain conditions and those with complement deficiencies or taking certain medications are at higher risk for meningococcal disease even after vaccination with the medicine and immunosuppressive therapies may reduce the immune response to vaccines. Notify your physician if you think you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant or breastfeeding. Notify your doctor if you consume any other medicine with a Menactra Vaccine. The safety and effectiveness of the drug are not established in adults older than 55 years of age.

Therapeutic Effects of Menactra Vaccine
Meningococcal Polysaccharide Diphtheria Toxoid Conjugate stimulates the production of antibodies that act against the bacteria and protects specifically from Neisseria meningitidis groups A, C, Y, W – 135, thus preventing invasion of meningococcal disease.
