Introduction to Targocid 400mg Injection

Targocid 400mg Injection contains the active substance Teicoplanin. It is an antibiotic that belongs to the class of medications called glycopeptide. It is used in adults and children to treat bacterial infections of soft tissues, lungs, urinary tract, endocarditis, abdominal wall, blood, bones, and joints. It works by killing the bacteria that cause infections in the body.


Do not use Targocid 400mg Injection if you are allergic to Targocid 400mg Injection or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Inform your physician if you have flushing of the upper part of your body, a decrease in platelet count, kidney problems, and liver problems. Notify your doctor if you have allergic to an antibiotic called vancomycin. This medicine can cause serious rash or other skin symptoms. 


Inform your physician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before initiating the treatment. The side effects of Targocid 400mg Injection are rash, pain, fever, decrease in platelet count, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, or headache. Inform your physician immediately if you experience sudden life-threatening allergic reactions such as difficulty breathing or wheezing, swelling, rash, itching, fever, and chills.

Therapeutic Effects of Targocid 400mg Injection

The cell wall of gram-positive bacteria is entirely made of peptidoglycan, which is necessary for cell wall synthesis. Targocid 400mg Injection interferes with the cell-wall biosynthesis of bacteria by binding to specific residues and inhibiting the polymer membrane. It works by killing the bacteria which can cause serious infections.
