Introduction to Taxim O Dry Syrup

Taxim O Dry syrup contains the active ingredient cefixime. It belongs to the group of antibiotic medications called cephalosporin antibiotics. It is indicated to treat bacterial infections of the nose, ear, sinuses (sinusitis), throat, chest, lungs, and urinary tract. A bacterial infection refers to the growth of numerous harmful strains of bacteria in the body. It can affect any part of the body.  

The common side effects that are likely to associate with Taxim O Dry syrup are nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea, indigestion (dyspepsia), headache, dizziness, and itching of the genital or vaginal area. Report to your doctor if any of these side effects disturb or persist in you. It is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women.  

Report to your physician immediately if you have allergic reactions to Taxim O Dry syrup, other cephalosporin antibiotics, including penicillin, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Tell your doctor before treatment commencement with this medication if you have colitis (inflammation of the inner lining of the colon), kidney or liver disease, or seizures. It should not be given to children below ten years. 


Uses of Taxim O Dry Syrup

  • Treatment of bacterial infection.

Therapeutic Effects of Taxim O Dry Syrup

Taxim O Dry syrup kills susceptible bacteria by blocking the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. It attaches to one of the penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), which prevents the formation of peptidoglycan in the bacterial cell wall. This prevents biosynthesis and stops the building of the cell wall, which results in the death of the bacterial cell.


Interaction of Taxim O Dry Syrup with other drugs

Inform your doctor about any medications you take or have taken before the treatment, including prescription, over-the-counter, nutritional or vitamin supplements, and herbal products. Certain medications may interact with Taxim O Dry syrup and can cause undesirable side effects.


More Information about Taxim O Dry Syrup

  • Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.
  • If you forgot to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, skip the missed dose if it is nearly time for the next dose.
  • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

How to consume Taxim O Dry Syrup

Take Taxim O Dry syrup as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Take the prescribed dose of this medicine by using the measuring cup or dosing syringe or else the dropper provided by the pack. Shake the pack well before each use. Your doctor will decide the medicine’s dose, duration, and frequency based on the disease condition and other factors.

Side Effects of Taxim O Dry Syrup

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all medications cause side effects, not everyone gets them.

  • Fits (convulsion)

Q 7. Can Taxim O Dry syrup cause blood clots?

Yes, Taxim O Dry syrup can cause blot clots that are shown up in the blood tests. Hence, it is uncommon and returns to normal after stopping this medication.
