Themicaine 2% jelly contains the active component of lidocaine hydrochloride, which belongs to the family of medications called local anesthetic. It is used to produce local anesthesia (numb a specific area) and relieve pain where it is locally applied. Themicaine 2% jelly is used for numbing during various medical procedures, relieving pain and itching from minor burns, insect bites, poison ivy, cuts, or scratches, and treating painful urethritis. It's also used for pain control in urethral procedures, as a lubricant in intubation, and for treating sore throats and mouth ulcers. Â
Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to lidocaine or other amide group of local anesthetics. Before initiating the treatment, inform your doctor if you have heart disease, blood disorders, or kidney or liver diseases.
