Introduction to Valera 5mg Tablet

Valera 5mg tablet is an anti-diabetic agent with an active ingredient called Evogliptin. It belongs to the medication class known as dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors. It is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control. It can be used alongside diet and exercise as a monotherapy or combined with metformin.

Do not consume Valera 5mg tablet if you are allergic to Evogliptin or any of its ingredients in the medication. Avoid taking the medicine if you have severe ketosis, diabetic coma, pre-coma, and type 1 diabetes. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to get pregnant, or think you may be pregnant or are breastfeeding. Inform your doctor if you have acute pancreatitis or heart or kidney problems.

Some common side effects of Valera 5mg tablet are hypoglycemia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, fatigue, and upper respiratory tract infection. If you experience any side effects, contact your doctor immediately.

Uses of Valera 5mg Tablet

  • Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus

Therapeutic Effects of Valera 5mg Tablet

Valera 5mg tablet functions by selectively inhibiting dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) activity. This will hinder the breakdown of GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1), a hormone that regulates blood sugar levels. With DPP-4 inhibited, the concentration of active GLP-1 in the bloodstream increases. This elevation of active GLP-1 improves glycemic control, resulting in a hypoglycemic effect.

Interaction of Valera 5mg Tablet with other drugs

Inform your doctor about any prescribed medications, over-the-counter medicines, nutritional or vitamin supplements, and herbal products you take or have taken before the treatment. Certain medications may interact with Valera 5mg tablet and can cause undesirable side effects.
