Introduction to Vaptolva 15mg Tablet
Vaptolva 15mg Tablet contains an active component called Tolvaptan. It belongs to a class of Vasopressin antagonists. The medicine increases the excretion of water in the urine, which increases aquaresis (water excretion without loss of electrolyte) and also decreases the osmolarity of urine (measurement of urine concentration), which increases serum sodium concentration. This medicine needs close monitoring of blood sodium levels. Patients are advised to take enough water during the treatment to avoid dehydration. Those who are restricted are recommended to consult the healthcare provider.  Â
Before starting the treatment, consult your doctor if you have kidney and liver disorders or are allergic to ingredients such as benzazepine, Vaptolva 15mg Tablet, or other benzazepine derivatives. This medicine is contraindicated to patients with Anuria (lack of urine), Hypovolemic hyponatremia (Deficiency in both total body water and sodium level), Hypernatremia (high sodium level in blood), and patients who cannot feel thirst. So, it is recommended to discuss your medical history with your doctor. The safety and efficacy of children below 18 years old are unknown; hence, consult your doctor before giving the medicine to children. Â

Therapeutic Effects of Vaptolva 15mg Tablet
Vaptolva 15mg Tablet blocks the vasopressin hormone effect (antidiuretic hormone- that helps to prevent water loss), decreases the amount of water in your body by increasing urine production, and, as a result, raises the concentration of sodium in your blood.
Interaction of Vaptolva 15mg Tablet with other drugs
Inform your doctor including prescription, over-the-counter, nutritional or vitamin supplements, and herbal products. Certain medications may interact with Vaptolva 15mg Tablet, reducing effectiveness by causing undesirable side effects.Â
Inform your doctor if you have taken ketoconazole (against fungal infections), macrolide antibiotics, diltiazem (treatment for high blood pressure and chest pain), digoxin (used for treatment of irregularities of heartbeat and heart failure), dabigatran etexilate (used to thin the blood), metformin (used to treat diabetes), sulfasalazine (used to treat inflammatory bowel disease or rheumatoid arthritis) it may increase the effect the drug whereas, drug-like barbiturates (used to treat epilepsy/seizures and some sleep disorders), rifampicin (against tuberculosis) and desmopressin may decrease the effect of the medicine. Avoid drinking grapefruit juice before or after the medication. It may interact with the drug.

How to consume Vaptolva 15mg Tablet
Take Vaptolva 15mg Tablet exactly as directed by your doctor. Your doctor will provide the appropriate dose and frequency based on your medical condition and other factors. Do not crush or chew the tablets. Swallow the tablets whole with water. Have plenty of water and contact your doctor immediately. If you have taken an excess tablet than the prescribed dosage, don't double up the medicine if you forgot to take the medicine.
