Introduction to Vaxirab N Vaccine

Vaxirab N Vaccine contains the active component of inactivated rabies virus (rabies virus that has been killed), which belongs to the class of medicines called vaccines. It is used as a preventative measure against rabies before or after exposure to the virus (pre-exposure prophylaxis or post-exposure prophylaxis). Rabies infection spreads when a person is bitten, scratched, or licked by an infected animal, especially when the skin is already injured. Rabies is a serious and often fatal viral disease that can cause severe neurological symptoms, including fever, headache, muscle weakness, and paralysis. Once symptoms develop, the disease is almost always fatal. Though this infection is 100% fatal, it is 100% preventable with timely measures and the correct use of available vaccines, immunoglobulins, or monoclonal antibodies.

It is not recommended to take Vaxirab N Vaccine if you are allergic to any of its components. Inform your doctor if you have high fever or any underlying acute illness before receiving  Vaxirab N Vaccine. Pediatric patients require special consideration as it can be given in the thigh muscle whereas for elderly it can be given in the upper arm.
